He stumbles on tingling legs, his shirt sticky with blood and heart struggling to leap free from his ribcage. What's new, however, is the accompanying feeling of such strong confusion that leaves him floundering, completely unmoored. He's used to trembling so fiercely that his legs feel like jelly, his teeth chattering with a ferocity that suggests they might rattle right out of his head, his lower lip wobbling in a fruitless effort to keep his mouth shut, for if he opens it he knows a sob will surely break free.
